About The Athlete

Tanya joined CFC spring 2016, looking for something new exercise-wise with an interesting in experiencing what “crossfit” was all about. Her excitement with every movement and positive energy was noticeable even from the first class and since than it seems that it has only grown.

Tanya is almost a daily regular in either our crossfit and bootcamp classes and is always a favorite to coach and chat with. Her strength, conditioning and movement progress has grown leaps and bounds since joining and we can only imagine it will continue to do so into the future.

We feel honored to have a person and personality such as Tanya be a part of our growing CFC community. Keep up the awesome work and congrats Tanya!

A little more about them…

What got you into Crossfit, how long have you been doing it and what keeps you coming back?

I am not a sport person at all but there is nothing more motivating than positive sibling competitiveness! My sister started going to the Crossfit three years ago and in the first two years she couldn’t stop talking about all these new muscle groups that she had discovered on her back and belly. Well, now we have another topic to talk about on Skype all together. And funny enough, these new muscle groups that I now discover on my body are the reason I am coming back. Thanks sis!

What are some of your non-crossfit hobbies or activities?

Currently, dental school and all the academics and social activities around it take it all and I couldn’t be any happier. Volunteering. Yoga. Live music.

One sentence to describe CFC from your perspective…

It is where soul and mind meet the body plus some really really good and interesting individuals!

What is your favorite part of CFC?

Post-metcon euphoria and these moments when I can feel my muscles squeezing and pulling me up!

Favorite and least favorite movement/workout, and why?

Assault Bike is my least favorite for sure. I start struggling with everything way before burning my 1 calorie.

My favorite workout is the BootCamp because I enjoy heavy sweating (not really) and the longer the metcon, the greater post-metcon euphoria!

Favorite superhero, band/musician or celebrity, and why?

I don’t think I have one and I am okay with that. Although I can be really annoyingly picky with music and movies. Depends on the mood and state of mind.

Biggest/proudest/latest accomplishment or PR?

Did you see that video Jenna posted? I am so cool there!

What’s your take on our coaching team?

Before I start serenading individually, I want to say that every single one of the coaching team at CrossFit Corydon is a knowledgeable and inspiring individual in his or her own way! Each one of them is a living example of dedication, hard and consistent work, sacrifice and the greatest accomplishment of appreciating and enjoying the body we live in.

It inspires me, engages me and most importantly it is 100% rewarding! I am physically feeling stronger, no back or neck pain. I am more positive and confident which helps me with all my non CrossFit activities. It is also a very efficient stress relief activity. I enjoy the size of my jeans! I even enjoy food more. My metabolism is boosted so I can eat things without feeling guilty, of course within the limits of healthy eating habits.

Shane is the Godfather of the CFC. Always with the smile or laugh, always with the positive attitude, always personal! And at the same time he is serious about everything related to the training and physique. Great combo!

Taylor is the Metcon Creator, the Brain. Always so attentive, patient and friendly! Very talented coach, great smile!

Jason is the funniest! Always a joy to exercise when he is coaching!

Jenna is the Sweatheart and I love BootCamps! Professional, compassionate and motivating!

Michelle is so cool! She is an erudite coach with lots of warm up games and jumping exercises. Way to boost the race!

Steph is the upcoming star! She is very articulate, very attentive and super cute!

Do you have any goals set for the near future – in or outside of CFC?

Muscle ups and handstand walk are the goals but probably not in the near future.
Outside the CFC- keep schooling!

Give us a little known fact about yourself…

I just got my first pair of Crossfit shoes!

Coaches Comments

Tanya has been an awesome addition to the CFC community. She quietly goes about building muscles and killing the metcons. From day 1 I have always been impressed with her mobility, well more like jealous. She is flawless when she squats and has continued to build her strength. She is always so happy to and upbeat and is killing it this summer with the boot camp and regular class. Which by the way is so impressive that she brings all this energy to class every time. I love it after a metcon that she destroys and says that was a tough one cuz from where I am standing you made it look easy. I hope she continues to get stronger and have a ton a fun with crossfit. – Coach Jason.

Tanya has an incredible sense of spirit and energy when she enters the gym, or any room for that matter, and that carries into the class atmosphere and workouts. When she started, the barbell was a new thing, always moving very hesitantly in somewhat of a controlled manner until she got more confident and comfortable with her strength and abilities, this has now translated into some excellent movement mechanics and allowed her to challenge herself in both skill progression and strength work. She loves a challenging workout and when that clock starts she gets right into the zone and gives it everything she has.  “That was tough, I loved it” is the common phrase I hear after a crossfit class or bootcamp session. Her level of determination when she puts her mind to working on something in or outside of the gym is also incredible and I have no doubt that that determination will translate in to a lifetime of success in all her endeavors. Congrats Tanya!  – Coach Taylor

Tanya is so enthusiastic about fitness! Whether she’s coming to CFC for CrossFit classes or bootcamp, she’s a joy to coach. Tanya is consistently improving on Olympic lifting and she pushes to lead through metcons. She’s a lot stronger than she thinks she is, which means I can only expect more from her! – Coach Michelle

Tanya is an absolute firecracker! Tanya has been with CrossFit Corydon for just over a year. When she joined, she was wide eyed and was open to anything we had her do. You could tell that Tanya wasn’t overly athletic, but you could tell where she lacked in athleticism she would make up for enthusiasm. My favorite part about Tanya is when she absolutely shocks herself with the amount of weight she can do now. I often coach her and tell her.. “Tanya toss at least 10 more lbs on there”, and at first she is shocked, then she lifts the weight (usually successfully) and is ecstatic. As a coach, seeing someone as excited as Tanya gets fires you up. Congrats Tanya on athlete of the month, you deserve it.! – Coach Shane

How do I begin to describe how proud I am of this woman? She doesn’t miss a day at the gym, she recently got her first chin up, toes to bar and officially uses the 20lb wall ball! On top of being a really strong athlete, if you haven’t seen her lately damn she looks amazing! She is an inspiration to many, balancing fitness and an incredibly tough academic program. Tanya is my biggest bootcamp fan and supporter, I can never thank her enough for that. She creates an incredible atmosphere that makes people want to be in her class, she is HILARIOUS and makes every class enjoyable to teach. I feel grateful to have a new friend like her! We’ve only just begun unleashing the fierceness you possess, can’t wait to see how far you can go! – Coach Jenna

Sincerely,

The CFC Coaching Team
